Our class along with Mrs. Amal Farhat and Mrs. Rasha Halat attended a conference at LAU, Beirut, on "Integrating Technology into
Education".
The first part of the seminar was representation of some school's latest integration of technologies in their curriculum and learning practices. They talked about the use of smart boards, I pads and many other instruments that changed the style of learning and made it more appealing and fun for the students. After the brunch break we split up into groups and attended workshop about math and English activities.
I came back with new interesting information and overall idea about the kinds of technologies that the future learning process will depend on. But although it seems glossy and bright but such instruments are really expensive and the schools in our area may not be able to provide them !
I more than before agree that technology is of great importance but as a presenter in the seminar mentioned : " you as teachers are still the boss of your classroom, design your plans , check if technology can help you in your lesson but never design your lesson according to the instrument in your hands !! "
Webinar about Emotional Intelligence
I struggled to attend this webinar, because this would be my first time I attend such conferences. Beside the bad network connection and the tremendous help the attenders were trying to give, I managed to get the recordings and sum up the given information.
The
webinar was presented by Yvette
Vignado.
Emotional
intelligence is measured in terms of Emotional Intelligence Quotient or EQ and
is important for a child not only to
understand himself, but also helps him to understand the feelings and emotions
of others. A child with a high emotional quotient will become more responsible
and respectful. He will have an increased ability to show empathy, and find it
easier to develop self restraint. On the other hand, a child with a low
emotional intelligence will often feel helpless.
When child receives very little emotional support at home he will be vulnerable to peer pressures and anxiety. A child may deal with his anxiety and fear by hiding it under a facade of being tough. Such things will effect and reflect negatively on the students personality.
